First Day Splitboarding, Albion Basin, Wasatch National Forest, Utah- November 2023

Winter finally showed up with some snow! I took advantage with the limited cover to get out up Little Cottonwood Canyon to get out on the skins for a walk and a few turns home. The morning started sopped in with clouds.

As I made my way up the summer road, the clouds began to clear and I could see a rainbow developing up in the basin from the parting snow clouds. It was a pretty nice sight to see! I reached my destination and dropped into the meadow for some turns home. It was a lot better than expected and getting back the muscle memory and making turns again was really nice! A great day in the mountains kicking off the winter season! Enjoy the pics, and make sure you watch my YouTube video so you can see how the ride home was! More adventures to come!

Wagner Spring Trail, Wasatach Foothills, Utah- November 2023

We are in teh thick of November and winter has still not shown up. So I am goig to keep hiking! I saw this trailhead the last time I was in Research Park and did a little bit of my own research and found this trail in my investigation of the area. This trail is very near Mt Wire and is access to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. It looked like a nice hike to a unnamed summit at the terminus of the trail. I made my way into town and hit the trailhead.

This trail climbs right out of the starts and has several branches that can take you to the same destination. I was following a gpx track that was shared with me. It made its way through the lasst of the fall colors on the gamble oaks. It comes to a left turn and a pond/spring which I assume is the name sake of this trail. Upon further inspection I found it had a swing! I plopped down on it and gave it a swing for a minute!
The rest of the trail climbs steep up to a saddle that looks up Emigration Canyon. A false summit, and then the final push to the top! THe views up here were fantastic! I took some time and enjoyed the mild November temps and the views were really nice! Eventually I headed back down to finish off this really fun hike! Enjoy the pics and make sure you watch the YouTube edit I have posted below! More adventures to come!

Rattlesnake Gulch To Pipeline Overlook, Millcreek Canyon, Wasatch National Forest, Utah- November 2023

Since winter has delayed its arrival, I have started to hunt down the trails I have not been on yet. I think the name Rattlesnake Gulch had me put off for trying it, but it was late enough in the year I felt I would not see one out with the temps we have had. I made my way to the trailhead and headed on up the trail. Still some fall colors and it starts to climb right out of the gate. Its only a m7 mile climb to the Pipeline Trail, but that is a really good workout. once I got up on the Pipeline Trail it was really smooth sailing.

The Pipeline Trail is a very long basin after basin traverse with some really steep drop offs you walk along. Be aware there are mountain bikes, and in spots there is not enough room for you and a bike heading out to the Pipeline Overlook. I eventually made it out to the overlook and sat down to take it all in.

After some really nice down time, and a cloud watching expereince, I made my way back towards the trailhead. I personally think the hike back on this trail is asa fun as the hike out. The views were spectacular and I really enjoyed my time. I took the BST trail down to make this a semi-loop. There were a few fall colors hanging on. The temps were unseasonably warm and it was a nice November day! A great hike and one I won't soon forget! Enjoy the pics! Make sure to check out the YouTube edit from this hike. As always, more adventures to come!
